Living in Japan for 5 years, I was struck by the lack of vibrant birds, especially parrots. When I really began looking into my home-country's birdlife, I became aware of how much they were being affected by habitat-loss and human intrusion. Endangered and vulnerable birds continue to be a common motif in my work.
