Tameshi Brooch Set of 2 - Katazome Leaves on Teal Silk

"Tameshi" means sample or trial piece in Japanese.

These unique, one-off jewellery pieces are made using sample dye swatches from various dyed artworks.
Once the piece is complete, the test swatches - mixed by eye- are no longer necessary.
But they are beautiful objects in themselves so what better way to use them than show them off?

This pair of brooches utilises some katazome-dyed obi silk I had from 2010! how's that for recycling? The pattern was inspired by the leaves of Australian Silver Wattle.
This is a pair of big bold brooches in a wooden backing.

One is my normal large size: 55mm across.
The second is a little smaller at 45mm wide.

You could pair them together on a big cable sweater or what about sharing one with your Mum, sister or friend?
I can gift-wrap these separately or together.
