友だちのエイミー・カーメンズと京都で二人展を開きます！3月31日から4月12日の２週間、ギャラリーｈ２０で型染と友禅の作品を展示します。

Ｋｕｋｋｉｒｉと残される白い線や模様が、私たちには型染と友禅染の魅力の一つです。伝統的な技法を使うと大変な所もありますが、色々な可能を持っている技法なので何よりも楽しいです。

和紙を植物染料で染めた作品、絹に飛んでいるインコの作品、手で彫ったすごく細かい型紙の作品、数枚の生地を重ねた作品も！日本の伝統技法を用いたオーストラリアの感覚で作った作品を楽しみにしてください。

From March 31st to April 12th, Amy Kerr-Menz and I will be showing our Katazome and Yuzen dyed works in the very cool tatami room and gallery space at Galerie h2o. Including washi dyed with rich natural dye colours, transparent silk with flying parrots, incredibly detailed hand-cut stencils and multilayered fabric works, we are bringing a new and Australian twist to traditional Japanese techniques. 

「Kukkiri」 means distinct and bold. For both of us, this is part of the attraction of the traditional resist techniques Katazome and Yuzen; the creative effort involved in achieving crisp, clear resist lines and patterns. 

It's officially Spring and the perfect time for outings and gallery hopping so please come by and say Hi!
