Artist Talk- Australia Japan Society (ACT)

  • The Griffin Centre 20 Genge Street Canberra, ACT, 2601 Australia (map)

I’ve been invited to speak as part of the Saturday Afternoon Talks series held by the Australia Japan Society (ACT) . Come along to hear more about my textile work and recent experience as Artist in Residence in Nagano.

Melinda is an Australian textile artist working with the traditional Japanese dyeing techniques of Yuzen and Katazome. After studying for four years in Kyoto, Melinda has been carrying on using these techniques in Australia, applying them to local birds, plants and scenery. Recently returned from a ten week Artist-in-Residence program in Nagano, Melinda will be talking about the techniques she uses, recent work and the experience of using a traditional technique outside of its original context.
